Jan's Open Garden

Thornlie, Western Australia 27 October, 2024

What a wonderful day it was! The weather was perfect, the helpers arrived early to set up before the arrival of the visitors at 10.00am, and throughout the day there was a constant flow of people enjoying the beautiful garden, with seating placed strategically for relaxation while admiring the view.

The Plants Stall started the day full of plants and ended empty, thanks to Lynne and Victoria for their hard work and for patiently responding to numerous inquiries.

On the other side of the carport, Joan and Florence were busy at the rose-themed Stall, offering various items like rose cards, 2025 rose calendars, biscuits, books, Rose Petal Jelly, and more.

Passing through the carport led to the main gardens, where visitors leisurely explored the beautiful blooming garden with a wide array of plants, bowls of water with floating roses, and enjoyed morning and afternoon teas. The tea service included a selection of five delicious cakes, with the Rose Petals, Lavender, and Strawberry cake being the favorite of the day. The 'waitresses' Christine B, Karen G, Kate, Chris L, Pamela, Pauline M, along with Linley preparing teas and Melisa plating up, worked tirelessly all day. Dorothy did an exceptional job washing and drying the cups, saucers, and plates, while Linley showcased her tea and coffee making skills from her previous experience at Jan's. :)

In the morning, Chris T and Gay enjoyed greeting the many visitors, and in the afternoon, Karen D and Lea continued to welcome guests.

Lastly, but most importantly, Jan deserves special recognition for her foresight, generosity, and organisational skills without which this event would not have been possible. Thank you, Jan, for ensuring the visitors had a great time and the helpers enjoyed themselves!
